Eduardo José Varela Bravo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English, French and German Philology at the University of Vigo, where he teaches graduate courses on English Language, Semantics and Pragmatics and Text Analysis. He also teaches postgraduate courses on English Studies and the Media and Pragmatics. In June 1987 he obtained a Ph.D at the University of Seville, where he held several teaching positions from 1982 to 1990, with a dissertation entitled Blanco White: periodista político. Since his early publications on this field, his research interests have shifted into pragmatics, textual interpretation (synchronic and diachronic), web 2.0 resources for innovative online teaching, the language of comic strips and cartoons and, lately, formal and informal learning methods. Besides MMTAFL, he has also collaborated with other ELC research teams in the last years.
